Palace Hongdae
Palace's second store in Mapo-gu — a vibrant district known for its youthful energy and universities — draws inspiration from London’s iconic Southbank, the legendary riverside skate spot where the brand originated. The interior embraces a bold brutalist aesthetic, featuring massive floor-to-ceiling windows, raw concrete pillars, and expansive screen walls.
The design plays with striking contrasts: rough concrete ceilings and columns are balanced by a sleek grey marble floor, while Southbank’s signature block-like benches are reimagined in imposing slabs of red marble. At the heart of the space, the brand’s iconic bulldog statue stands proudly, while a glowing ‘P’-shaped light — styled in Palace’s distinctive slanted font — hovers above a vibrant display of skate decks.
